Malaria

Malaria is a serious and potentially life-threatening disease, transmitted through the bite of an infected female anopheles mosquito. Malaria is widely distributed throughout tropical regions of the world; the African region reports the majority of cases. Malaria is curable if diagnosed and treated promptly. To reduce the risk of contracting Malaria, the ABCD approach should be used.

In your appointment, we will make you aware if you are travelling to a malarial area. We will discuss bite avoidance to help prevent all mosquito borne illnesses. For those travelling to a malarial area, we offer chemoprophylaxis.

As well as malaria, mosquitos can also transmit other Illnesses, including, Zika Virus, Dengue Fever and Chikungunya. Wherever you are travelling, we will make you are aware of the risks and provide advice on how you can protect yourself.
